AGREEMENT

in the form of two exchanges of letters between the European Economic Community and Spain

Sir ,

Upon the conclusion of the consultations which were held at the resquest of the Spanish Delegation with a view to modifying the threshold prices fixed by the Agreement of 5 June 1970 between Spain and the European Economic Community for imports into Spain of certain cheeses , I note that the Spanish Delegation of the delegation of the Commission of the European Communities have agreed the following :

- the threshold prices applied by Spain to imports of cheese , inclusive of the regulatory duty ,

- the free-at-Spanish frontier prices to be observed before customs clearance , corresponding to the above threshold prices ,

- and the customs duties for the tariff headings in question are given below :

With reference to the exchange of letters of this day between our delegations concerning the threshold prices and free-at-Spanish frontier prices to be observed for certain cheeses , I note that , with regard to tariff subheading 04.04 G 1 b 3 ( Edam , Gouda , etc ) the preferential margin between the threshold price applicable in respect of non-Community countries and that applicable in respect of the Community has not been modified and is maintained at 630 pesetas/100 kg . The corresponding free-at-Spanish frontier price to be observed by the Community is consequently fixed at 8 310 pesetas/100 kg .

I should be grateful if you would confirm whether you are in agreement with the foregoing .
