AGREED MINUTE

In furtherance of the consultations held on 14 April 1988, in accordance with the Article 16 of the Bilateral Agreement on Trade in Textiles between Pakistan and the European Community, the delegations of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the European Community met in Islamabad on 19 to 20 April 1989 for adjustment of restraint level of category 4 due to transfer of certain Nimexe positions of category 83 to category 4 as a consequence of introduction of the harmonized system.

It was agreed that Pakistan was entitled for compensation on this account. Considering the total trade flow of 1986 of those Nimexe positions transferred from category 83 to category 4, it was agreed that the annual limits for importation into the European Community from Pakistan for category 4 shall be as follows:

1989: 14 494 000 pieces

1990: 15 173 000 pieces

1991: 15 886 000 pieces.

In agreeing the above limits, the trade loss to Pakistan in 1987 and 1988 has also been taken into consideration.

Information on the amendment of the Agreement between the Community and Pakistan on trade in textile products

In accordance with Article 2 of the Council Decision of 24 July 1989 concerning the provisional application of the Agreed Minute amending the Agreement with Pakistan on trade in textile products, the Commission has notified the Council of the agreement on the subject signified by the partner country on 1 January 1989.
