AGREED MINUTE

1. Delegations of the European Economic Community and the Republic of Poland met in Brussels on 19 March 1990. The meeting was held on the basis of the specific requests for enlarged market access in textiles and clothing, submitted by Poland under the Phare action plan on 8 November 1989.

2. Poland accepted the autonomous offer of the Community for improved market access and it was agreed to increase for 1990 and 1991 the EEC quantitative limits of a number of categories mentioned in Annex II to the textile agreement between Poland and the European Economic Community, initialled on 27 June 1986 and provisionally applied since 1 January 1987, by the quantities listed in the Annex to this agreed minute.

3. Both parties agreed that the aforesaid quota increases are exceptional and intended to contribute to the coordinated effort of the 'Group of 24' industrialized countries, to facilitate the restructuring of Poland's economy through, inter alia, improved access to the Community's markets. It is in this spirit that the additional quantities listed in the Annex to this Agreed Minute will be integrated into the existing textile agreement between Poland and the Community.

4. Both parties agreed that the increases provided for in this Agreed Minute will be applied provisionally as of 15 April 1990.
