1.1. Purpose
The
purpose of these exercises is to introduce you to
World Law / DIAL, a tool to
assist you to carry out legal research using the Internet.
1.2. Other documents to use
- Before commencing these
Exercises, we recommend that you do the Guided Tour of World Law / DIAL found in
the interactive
World Law / DIAL User Guide
- While you are doing these exercises, we suggest you use the
World Law / DIAL Quick Guide
for ready reference. It is a good idea to print out a copy or have it open on
screen.
1.3. Choose countries and topics of interest to you
At various points in these
Exercises you will be asked to do the exercise in relation to countries and
legal topics in which you are interested. You will use these to test various
legal research tools. You can change to other countries or subjects later if you
wish.
- Choose two countries the laws of which interest you, including both an Asian
country (for example, Kazakhstan, Viet Nam, Nepal or Cambodia) and a non-Asian
country (for example, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand or Germany).
